Fuqua and Wahlberg Prep Shooter

Hollywood North Report says that director Antoine Fuqua and star Mark Wahlberg will begin filming the political thriller Shooter in Vancouver on June 12 through August 30 at Lionsgate Studios.
Based on Stephen Hunter's novel "Point of Impact," the Paramount feature centers on an ace marksman -- living in self-exile in the Arkansas wilderness after causing the death of an innocent person -- who is persuaded by his former associates that they need his help to prevent an assassination. Subsequently double-crossed and framed for the presidential assassination he was trying to prevent, he is forced to go on the run while trying to track down the real killer and discover the truth about who betrayed him.
Jonathan Lemkin wrote the screenplay. The film is produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who previously produced the Wahlberg-starrer Four Brothers. |

I will highly recommend reading Hunter's Point of Impact. IMHO, it is one of the best stories I have ever read. If the script is even a quarter as good as the book, I can understand why Mister Wahlberg said "wow!"
The script is an adaptation of the book - and there are a lot of changes that were made to bring it into the 21st century, and to make it work on the screen. I am not a purist - I enjoyed Ludlum's book, Bourne Identity, and also adore Matt Damon's portrayal of Jason Bourne - but the two are very different. Each is good in its own right. I look for this movie and Hunter's book to work the same way.
Too bad they moved the nationwide release a week back - I gotta find that extra stash of patience!
How seriously do y'all take things around here? I'm going out on a limb - demonstrating that I never take things too seriously. Y'know, of course, that Shooter has a subtitle: The Legend of Marky Marksman...
Yeah, boo, hiss! You may now throw popcorn, I can handle it! _________________ That's why SF is so badass - we got the best flashlights. -- Three Kings
